Robbie Fowler slams Luis Suarez in extraordinary rant which divides fans

Robbie Fowler ripped into Luis Suarez in an unexpected pre-match rant before Liverpool kicked off against Barcelona on Tuesday night.

The Reds had a monumental task in front of them as they were 3-0 down from the first game at Camp Nou, in which Suarez scored and controversially celebrated against his old side.

While some fans appeared to forgive the Uruguayan for his passionate reaction in the Champions League semi-final, others booed him at Anfield and it appears his ‘antics’ have tipped club legend Fowler over the edge.

â€Å“I’m a big fan of him as a player,” Fowler began on the BT Sport broadcast, â€Å“I thought he was brilliant when he was here.

â€Å“I have a big problem with the way the fans love him, I really do.

â€Å“You can go and play for Barcelona, but the way he left Liverpool, he wanted to go and move to Arsenal.

â€Å“All of a sudden people go, ‘Oh, well he stayed and he was still brilliant and he never downed tools.’

â€Å“He started playing well because he wanted to leave. And I have a big thing with that, so that’s what annoys me about the Liverpool fans, they love him.

â€Å“Michael [Owen] won’t like me for saying this, but Michael done far more for this club than what he ever did.”

At this point Owen, also in the studio as a BT pundit, interrupted and joked: â€Å“I’ll love you for saying that.”

Fowler then continued: â€Å“I’m not interested in whether he celebrates his goal or not, but his antics last week playing against Liverpool showed no respect whatsoever.

â€Å“I know he’s a ‘street footballer’ if you like, but at times his behaviour towards Liverpool, the club, the fans during that game showed no respect whatsoever.

â€Å“And he’s coming out now talking about he’s gonna not celebrate if they score here, he’s gonna show his respect.

â€Å“Where was his respect last week? It was just non-existent. For me, I have a big problem with him.”
