Barcelona vs Liverpool: The best goals the Blaugrana have scored against the Reds in Champions League history

Liverpool’s trip to Barcelona is a truly mouthwatering Champions League clash – and it’s live on talkSPORT.

The clubs haven’t come to blows since 2007, where the Reds shocked the Catalan giants to progress to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Not much more could be at stake for the two clubs this time round, with the double still in Liverpool’s sights and Barca still in with a shout of the treble.

The match will see some of world’s best players go head-to-head, including the likes of Lionel Messi, who will face off the Premier League’s best player this season Virgil van Dijk.

Ahead of the tie, talkSPORT.com has had a look at some of the best goals the Catalan giants have scored against their semi-final opponents…

Patrick Kluivert

Kluivert expertly dispatched a volley against the Reds in the group stage of the 2001/02 season.

The Dutchman was terrific in the match, scoring one and creating another and he deservedly received a rapturous applause from the Anfield crowd when substituted.

Fabio Rochemback

In the same match, Rochemback also netted a stunning goal past Jerzy Dudek.

After some good build-up play between Kluivert and Overmars, Rochemback curled a sumptuous strike round the defender into the top corner of the Liverpool net.

Marc Overmars

Overmars’ goal is known to be one of the best team goals in Champions League history – and yet again it occurred in the same match as the previous two stunners.

Barca strung together 24 passes before the Dutchman, put through by Xavi, rounded Dudek to score.

Deco

Deco was the scorer of a sublime goal against Liverpool in the 2005/06 season.

The little Portuguese got on the end of a fine cross from Gianluca Zambrotta to head home and leave Pepe Reina scrambling in his own net.

Eidur Gudjohnsen 2006/2007

Gudjohnsen, after being played through by Messi, cleverly rounded Pepe Reina to slot home in the return leg of the 2006/07 last-16 tie.

However, his goal wasn’t enough to win the tie for his side as they succumbed to an away goals aggregate defeat to Rafael Benitez’s men.
