Everton 1-0 Arsenal: Toffees boss Marco Silva says ‘main man’ Dominic Calvert-Lewin is improving in every match he plays

Everton boss Marco Silva gave special praise to Dominic Calvert-Lewin, claiming the striker is improving every match he plays following their win at home to Arsenal.

The Toffees rose to ninth in the Premier League table after winning the match 1-0 thanks to Phil Jagielka’s early strike.

Calvert-Lewin, 22, led the line effectively and caused the visitors’ defence problems throughout the game.

The striker has started Everton’s last six matches – winning four, drawing one and losing one – scoring two goals in the process.

And although he wasn’t on the scoresheet against Arsenal, Silva stressed the whole team performed well but gave a special mention to Calvert-Lewin.

Speaking after the game, Silva said on Calvert-Lewin: “He’s growing, he’s developing and it’s my job to help him keep developing as a football player and he had a very good game.

“All of them did well but Dominic is just enjoying what he’s doing.

“He’s working hard to do what I ask him because it’s not an easy thing to be our main man [up front] but he’s working hard and achieving some things in each match.

“He’s improving each match and he’s doing everything that I want.”
