Arsenal target Nicolas Tagliafico scores calamitous own goal for Ajax in Eredivisie clash

Ajax defender Nicolas Tagliafico scored an embarrassing own goal during a routine win for the Eredivisie giants against the division’s bottom club FC Emmen.

Tagliafico, who has reportedly rejected a new deal in Amsterdam amid interest from Arsenal, did a simple back pass to his goalkeeper only for the ball to end up in the net.

With 29 minutes to go and Ajax 5-0 up, Tagliafico was in the left-back position and decided to play it safe by giving possession to Andre Onana.

But his ball back to Onana gathered pace and rolled past the keeper as he tried to keep it out.

Emmen scored another goal but Ajax, who have not won the league in five years, secured a 5-2 victory to move ahead of title rivals PSV Eindhoven.

Tagliafico is a talented player but this clumsy own goal will worry Gooners should Arsenal complete a deal for the full-back.
