He missed the final three matches of the season with a muscle strain but the club posted a positive update on Tuesday.

The Brazil international took part in Liverpool’s first session of their Marbella training camp as he works his way back to full fitness.

The 27-year-old has been working with the club’s medical staff on his rehabilitation and will be carefully managed, with specialised programmes planned over the coming days.

Liverpool will be hoping Firmino can battle his way back to full fitness ahead of the Champions League final.

He has netted 16 times in 47 games this season as part of the Reds’ attacking front three alongside Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.

They take on Tottenham in the final on June 1 in Madrid and the club are hoping to claim their sixth title in the competition.
