Bolton Wanderers will be able to stage matches at University of Bolton Stadium as prohibition notice withdrawn

Bolton Wanderers have been given the go-ahead to play matches at home until the end of the season after a prohibition notice was withdrawn.


There was the potential that the club may have been forced to play their next two Championship matches at the University of Bolton Stadium behind closed doors.

Bolton had been placed under a prohibition notice by the region̢۪s safety advisory group (SAG), comprising of representatives of the local council, police and emergency services, under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975.


SAG deemed fans’ safety would not be guaranteed.


However, the club have managed to ‘reassure’ the group, resulting in the notice being llifted.

A spokesperson for SAG said: “We recognise that Bolton Wanderers Football Club is at the heart of our community and this has been a deeply regrettable situation.


“Partners are going above and beyond to put the plans in place to make sure games go ahead.


“Safety and security have always been our primary concern and we are pleased that the club has been able to reassure us that they are able to host the game in a safe manner.”















 


Shaun Harvey, the EFL chief executive, said: â€Å“We are pleased that a resolution has been found and that the games will now take place as scheduled.


â€Å“I would like to thank the members of the Safety Advisory Group for helping bring this matter to a positive conclusion.”


On Tuesday, Bolton were give a stay of execution by the High Court on Tuesday to allow time for the proposed sale of the club to proceed.
